I’ve neglected this blog since the end of last summer. With summer once again approaching,
it’s time to begin planning the next adventure.
But first, a few numbers from last summer for others interested in doing
a similar trip.
Total Distance: 3,220.2 nm
Total Engine Hours: 480.0
Average Speed: 6.7 knots
Total Fuel Burned: 868.8 gallons
Average Fuel Consumption: 1.81 GPH (3.7 nm/gal)
Total Fuel Cost: $4,297.75
Average Fuel Cost: $4.95/gal
After returning from last summer’s cruise I met Mark Bunzel,
the owner and publisher of the Waggoner Cruising Guide. I landed a job working on the Waggoner and a
new, online boating magazine called Pacific Nor’West Boating. Work has kept me busy through the fall and
winter, but I’ve managed several short trips in the San Juans when the weather
and my schedule cooperated.
The best part of the new job is that I have to go cruising
again this summer! My plan is to leave
Anacortes around the beginning of June for a circumnavigation of Vancouver
Island. This trip will be substantially
shorter in distance than the trip to Glacier Bay and back, but it should be
rewarding. I’ll have another post in the
coming days with additional information about this upcoming trip.
I found this blog while researching C-Dory boats. Thank you for taking the time to write so much and post these great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI found this blog after reading your stuff on Crystal's backcountry. Can't wait to read about the circumnavigation of Vancouver Island! It's on my long term list!
